The work environment

Mount Madonna is a well-established, multigenerational community and retreat center set on 380 acres in the Santa Cruz mountains overlooking the Monterey Bay. Features of the work environment include:

Community Well-Being Coordinator

Fostering community, connection, and belonging

As the Community Well-Being Coordinator, you will help nurture the lived experience of residents and staff at Mount Madonna by coordinating internal events, guiding clear and consistent internal communications, and building supportive relationships across the community. You will assist in creating meaningful opportunities for connection—from Community Chats and holiday gatherings to workshops, celebrations, and retreats—while also helping new residents orient, access resources, and feel at home. This role is ideal for someone collaborative, grounded, and inspired by community living, spiritual practice, and fostering inclusive well-being.

Events & Hospitality Coordinator

Directing service and nurturing experiences

As the Events & Hospitality Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting retreats and programs at Mount Madonna, welcoming groups of 20–200 guests throughout the year. From pre-arrival through departure, you will ensure meeting spaces are properly set, clean, and fully resourced with seating, equipment, and supplies. The role includes coordinating on-the-ground logistics, supervising and training volunteer staff, and collaborating with Guest Services, Kitchen, Operations, and Facilities teams to meet the needs of guests and retreat leaders. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to lift up to 40 lbs and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, service-oriented environment.

Guest Services Manager

Guiding teams and systems in service of every guest

Join the Guest Services team in leading daily operations and creating exceptional experiences for every guest who visits Mount Madonna. As Guest Services Manager, you will oversee office logistics, guide staff, and ensure a seamless journey across all stages—from pre-arrival communication to on-site coordination and post-departure follow-up.

Working closely with the Guest Services Director, you will support department strategy, collaborate across teams, and step into a leadership role when needed. This is an ideal position for someone who is adaptable, detail-oriented, and inspired to serve through hospitality and community connection.

Supporting daily operations with adaptability and care

Mount Madonna is looking for a reliable and flexible team member to float between departments and support the smooth flow of daily operations. In this hands-on role, you will help prepare meals, wash dishes, and assist with housekeeping tasks—all while upholding cleanliness, safety, and a welcoming atmosphere. Volunteer Opportunities

Become part of Mount Madonna

Decades of volunteerism laid the foundation for Mount Madonna, and an embodied practice of karma yoga, or “the yoga of action,” remains the ethos for all service on the campus. Service as a volunteer is usually in the areas of kitchen, dining room, dish room, gate, events & hospitality, and landscaping. There is a three-month commitment for this opportunity.
