Going Deeper: A focused meditation retreat

Be part of an immersive experience to deeply engage in practice, fully supported by longtime Mount Madonna teachers, at this signature annual winter small-group retreat.

To support the mind in turning inward, you will follow a simple diet, observe silence, and practice in a secluded space with only your fellow participants. A number of hours each day will be devoted to sadhana (spiritual practice) explicitly created for this meditation retreat by Baba Hari Dass. The sadhana includes meditation, pranayama (breathing techniques), and asana (postures). Devotional rituals, chanting, and spiritual stories also form a part of this special experience.

Going Deeper: A Focused Meditation Retreat is devoted to a deeper level of meditation and purification for people who already have some experience and knowledge of Yoga.

Our campus is nestled in Northern California and conveniently close to Silicon Valley, Santa Cruz, Monterey, and the Bay Area. With stunning views of Monterey Bay, it is surrounded by 380 serene meadows and majestic redwood forests. Within this peaceful setting, the Going Deeper retreat—rooted in the classical teachings of Baba Hari Dass—invites sincere practitioners to deepen self-study, mindfulness, and inner awareness through traditional practices of meditation, pranayama, and asana. Designed as a focused meditation retreat in the Santa Cruz Mountains, the tranquil environment supports stillness, balance, and reflection, allowing you to fully turn inward and deepen your personal practice.

To help ensure a safe and comfortable retreat environment for everyone, Mount Madonna continues to observe mindful health and safety practices informed by CDC COVID-19 public health guidance. Participants are asked to take a COVID test upon arrival and to follow simple guidelines for masking and hygiene when needed.
