Yin Yoga
Long-held postures for inner stillness
Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga incorporating principles of traditional Chinese medicine, with asanas (postures) that are held for longer periods of time, sometimes up to five minutes, than in other yoga styles. As conceptualized in the Taoist and Dharmic traditions, the sequences of postures are meant to stimulate the channels of the subtle body, known as meridians in Chinese medicine and as nadis in Hatha Yoga (path of balance).
The aim of Yin Yoga is to increase circulation in the joints and improve flexibility. A more meditative approach to yoga, its goals are awareness of inner silence, and bringing to light a universal, interconnecting quality.
The day’s program will include:
- A guided tour of the Mount Madonna campus (weather permitting)
- Brunch & dinner in the shared community dining hall
