CANCELLED for Retreat. Will resume January 7, 2025.

Foundations of Classical Ashtanga Yoga

Tuesdays & Thursdays 7:00-8:30am in the Redwood Room

Overnight and Mountain Experience day guests are invited to join residents and staff for practice.

This series of yoga classes is designed to give a foundation of the teachings and
practices of Ashtanga Yoga as presented by Baba Hari Dass. Pranayama (breathing techniques), meditation, asana (postures) and brief glimpses into the philosophy behind them will be taught and practiced alongside one another. The practices presented in this course are foundational for more intermediate practices also offered at Mount Madonna.

The support of a community of spiritual practice, or satsang, is one of the core values of Mount Madonna. This 12-class series will be held from 7 to 8:30am every Tuesday and Thursday for 6-weeks and is a great primer of the practices and philosophy of yoga as well as a means for either developing or strengthening your own personal practice.

Anand will be leading the series with Soma Goresky, Purnima Conway, Jaya Maxon and other teachers also supporting. Please join us in coming together to support each other in practices that bring health, clarity and peace to both the body
and mind.
