Classical Ashtanga Yoga Wednesdays
Wednesdays 7:00 – 8:30am in the Redwood Room
Begin your day with an integrated practice designed to cultivate clarity, steadiness, and ease. This 90-minute class opens with 45 minutes of pranayama (breathing techniques) and meditation; the second half transitions into an asana (postures) practice. Class concludes with a restful savasana (corpse pose) accompanied by soothing sounds and mantra (sacred chanting), offering a gentle opportunity to absorb the practice and carry a sense of peace into the day.
Class Etiquette
- Please arrive at or before 7:00 a.m. if you plan to join for pranayama and meditation.
- If you arrive past 7:00 a.m., please plan to rejoin the class at 7:45 for asana practice. Please do not try to enter the yoga room until the teacher has invited you in.
- All props and mats are provided.
- Please do not bring beverages of any kind onto the practice floor.
- Please sign a Liability Waiver prior to class.
- Yoga classes are appropriate for ages 13 years and older. Please plan for a separate activity for children under age 13.

SunRay BatesWith over a decade of dedicated yoga practice, SunRay offers a grounded and heart-centered approach that weaves together breath, meditation, mindful movement, and devotion. She is honored to teach at Mount Madonna after completing her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training here in June 2025.
Drawing on a background in dance and psychology, SunRay creates classes that honor both the intelligence of the body and the inner landscape of the mind. Her greatest inspiration comes from the devotional traditions of yoga, like kirtan, and she strives to cultivate a space where students can reconnect with themselves through presence, breath, and sincere practice.
