“If you wish to see the truth
then hold no opinions for or against anything.
To set up what you like against what you dislike
is the disease of the mind.”
–from Hsin Hsin Ming by Seng-Ts’an

Strong, “negative” emotions often stir a whirlwind of unexamined beliefs and assumptions, leading us to think that problems exist where, in fact, they do not. A simple, classic example is being anxious about a meeting or event, then going and having a fine time. Other problem-creating beliefs that many hold begin with words such as, “I can’t stand....” or “I don’t want to feel…” We get so caught up in the emotion of the stories we tell ourselves that we fail to see the process. Through group discussion and guided imagery Cheri will help us discover how imaginary problems are created and how to let them go.

CHERI HUBER has been a student and teacher of Zen for over 30 years. Her clarity and humor support the challenging work of spiritual growth. Her 19 books include There Is Nothing Wrong with You, The Fear Book, Making a Change for Good, and her most recent, Transform Your Life: A Year of Awareness Practice. Cheri founded the Zen Monastery Peace Center where she conducts workshops and retreats. She has an internet based weekly call-in radio show, Open Air and is founder/director of Living Compassion, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing peace and compassion to all.
