The purpose of both yoga and music is to journey within. In ancient times music, Yoga and a myriad of disciplines were taught together in ‘gurukula’ (schools) led by Yogis.  In this workshop, we will focus on reintegrating Yoga and classical Indian music. Participants will experience

  • Basic yoga postures, breathing techniques and meditation, with its allied mantras
  • Basic voice techniques, and rhythmic exercises
  • Re-learning the art of listening, not only to music, but observing the environment through our ears
  • Discovering the philosophy and inherent wisdom of ‘Raga Sangeet’ Indian Classical music
  • The ancient technique of yogic sleep
  • A concert of Indian classical music.

  • Continuing Education Credit for nurses.
  • Fulfills the spiritual practice prerequisite for John F. Kennedy University's Graduate School for Holistic Studies.
  • Qualifies for YTT 500. You must apply to the YTT 500 program before taking this class for credit.
