In many cultures around the globe there is recognition of a special quality to the Fall equinox time and the transition from the celebratory harvest season to the natural world’s dormant or inwardly focused dark season. Sages of Yoga discovered that we can align ourselves with these great cycles of Nature and in so doing bring extra power to our yoga practice, awakening and reminding us of divine presence. Throughout India, the Fall season plays host to a rich confluence of traditions and rituals honoring the Goddess in her myriad forms, as well as the Navaratri celebrations honoring the inspiring and symbolic story of Lord Rama.

We will immerse ourselves in time-honored practices that have come from the Vedas, Upanishads, and Hatha Yoga scriptures: silence, meditation, japa (repetition of mantra), pranayama (breathing practices), asana (postures), and rituals of Arati (offering of light) and Yajna (Vedic fire ceremony).

There will be two tracks to choose from in the morning - observing Navarati with daily morning pujas to Rama (performed at the Hanuman Temple), or joining a group practice indoors which will include pranayama, meditation, and repetition of mantra. Each day, following practice, we come together as one group for yajna. Each afternoon there will be thematic talks and time for questions and answers with Baba Hari Dass. Babaji, a master yogi, has taught the philosophy and methods of yoga to students in this country for nearly 40 years.  The retreat is designed for people at all levels of experience from beginners to advanced students.
